Flying weightless as part of the job
Now who would like to have a job where you get to fly in a plane, that simulates zero gravity, as a part of market research?? It seems venture capitalist, and blogger, David Cowan does!! It’ll be interesting to see what kind of user experiences the guys behind second life must be thinking of, if they’re heading into zero gravity environments?? Perhaps, they’ll create a custom plugin for your pc, that allows you to feel the rush, using some kind of electrical stimulation??
Imagine playing a game where you get led through a process that leads you into the feeling of weightlessness, or floating… Well, one such game, that I’ve had plenty of experience with, is The Journey to Wild Divine – a computer game that uses biofeedback sensors to measure your heart rate, and skin conductivity levels, and feeds this data into the game, where you’re taught techniques, and exercises that help you raise your level of relaxation and enter into deep states of rest and heightened states of calm… Admittedly, the game reads your body signals, and guides you into the desired state, instead of directly inducing the state…
There are other electronic devices out there that also are designed to induce states, some such as the hemi-sync and holo-sync use specific audio signals, and some, like the Procyon use a combination of light and sound.
Other approaches to changing state, include meditation, hypnosis, nlp, subliminal audios, and paraliminal audios, though now we leave the realm of “fun” and “play”, behind, and really get into the serious stuff!
People like Topher Morrison and Christopher Howard regularly run seminars and workshops, sharing how you can access these states, and there’s a plethora of cd’s you can buy that let you experience this stuff in your own home. Personally, I’ve seen how powerfully, you can connect with the subconscious mind – and make very real differences in the outcomes in life… It’s kinda scary how easily you can reprogram your psyche.. Kinda cool too!! It really makes you conscious of how powerfully your language is creating your reality, and that in turn makes it that much more powerful, when you start to look back on your life, and see how everything lined up, one after the other, and everything fell into place!
One guy, that’s put mental programming on a whole new level is Paul Scheele… Being an expert in NLP, and personal development, he’s put together a set of audio cd’s using an approach called “Paraliminal” – quoting directly from his website:
“Para” is the Latin prefix meaning “beyond”. “Liminal” refers to the “limen” or “threshold” of conscious awareness. The term literally means, “beyond the threshold of conscious awareness”.
They seem to be a very novel way of changing states, and creating new realities… But it seems, like so much else in life, we’ve wandered off the original topic we started on, having a job that would have you try out zero-gravity for market research… Or perhaps, we’ve come squarely back on track, to the basic idea, that really, we want to be living our lives, in a particular way, experiencing particular things… Whether we induce the experience electronically, or physically experience the different states we live in, does it really matter?? After all, it’s never really the experience itself that matters, but the meaning we give it – and so for those people who can’t have fun, rest, relaxation, or experience different states, without some aid, you may want to check out some of the cool offerings that exist in the world… Personally, I can induce most states, consciously, when I want them… Just sometimes it’s fun to use tools and aids, to see what regular folk have to go through, to get to the same place..
